“I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL (YOU GOT IT)” – BOBBY BYRD
From the photo you might have been thinking “Damn, that’s the boy Mos Def”, yes the brother does share physical doppleganger type qualities with the decorated ill emcee. (#DahveedFact: Doppleganger was one of the most searched words of 2010). Anyways, it’s not the Mighty Mos. it’s the new Al Green. I know people hate being compared other artist but eff it, dude as a major soul and he hails Cali (where they’re up to no good). He runs with the Stones Throw crew (Madlibs peoples) and it will surely be a damn crime if he doesn’t blow up. He’s been underground for since ’95 and got some national recognition for his song “I Need A Dollar” which became the opening intro for the HBO hit series “How To Make It America”.
Breakdown
The videos below are shot by the wonderful folks of http://www.blogotheque.net/ part of their “Take Away Show” series in which they showcase Indie Artist in their raw, ridiculous raw element.
My personal favorite part is which he sings “You Make Me Smile” while in the subway station in Montreal (#DahveedFact: I love the subway in Montreal, fast and efficient, better than TTC). I was lucky enough to witness Blacc perform in Toronto in the summer and this song just hit me, hit me good. I’m always humming this song.
So check it….
Peace!
